Pre-Op Appointments

We arrived here at Children's at about 1:45 yesterday for the battery of pre-op appointments. Children's is undergoing construction, so we were one of the first appointments in the new "Whale" wing. They have a beautiful atrium that is 2 levels high and an amazing Native American whale (and baby) "mobile" hanging from the ceiling. It must be about 30' x 20' itself and hangs about 30' off the ground.

Max's first appointment was a routine physical and medical history. With the RN and PT in training, we went over the items that were already listed in his chart from the last visit and they asked if anything had changed or improved in the last week. From there, we went to a brief anesthesiology pre-op appointment, where we went through the same/similar series of questions and they talked about what anesthesiology was going to be like for Max. Since we had already been through this once, it was a pretty quick conversation.

Last stop was the Radiology area, where Max got to have another MRI. He wasn't too thrilled about it and was really tired, but said an MRI was too loud for him to be able to sleep at all. We finally got out of the hospital just in time to hit traffic... and we were reminded again how grateful we are to live in Bellingham...

We made our way to I-405 to head to the Walters' to sleep, but stopped off at a little Italian place for dinner. We got some really good gourmet pizzas and key lime cheesecake for dessert. Max would have preferred Pizza Hut, but Matt and I wanted something a little more ... tasty.

Everyone was exhausted by the time we got to the Walters'. Mel showed us to our rooms and we said hi to Matt and Lauren briefly (Kasy was at work) and we turned in at about 8:30.

We woke up this morning at about 5:30 to head here to Children's again for admitting.
