Opthamologist visit
As I mentioned earlier, Max had some vision problems at the onset of all this. Throughout his hospital stay, he had repeated neurological tests done, and they determined that he had some peripheral vision loss, but weren't sure if it was permanent or if there was more damage that wasn't readily seen. So, as the hospital scheduled Max's surgeries, they also scheduled a visit to the Eye doctor.
Matt took Max down yesterday and the news I got from Matt was that Max has all his color vision, one eye is slightly "worse" than the other, but he more or less has 20/20 vision. However, he has likely permanently lost a chunk of his peripheral vision. The good news is that the eyes are amazingly adaptable, and within a few months Max won't even notice that he has lost it. Also, doctors can, on occasion, be wrong, so there's always hope.
Tomorrow, Max has his first appointment at 2 and we go pretty much non-stop until 5. Mel and Kacy Walters have been kind to offer their house to us, so we will probably go out to dinner and then head to their house to get a good night's sleep before Max gets admitted to the ICU on Tuesday morning.
